Danner Laboratory, Vancouver is proud to announce Dr. Marc Romney, MD, FRCPC, as the Medical Director. Dr. Romney brings over 25 years of extensive healthcare and laboratory medicine experience to our esteemed team.
With a distinguished career track in tracking, diagnosing, and managing emerging infectious diseases, Dr. Romney's expertise spans from SARS to COVID-19. He currently holds the position of Head of Medical Microbiology and Virology at St. Paul's Hospital and serves as a Clinical Professor at the University of British Columbia. He is also the Medical Director for Laboratory Services, Yukon Hospital Corporation. Additionally, Dr. Romney is on the Specialist Register (Medical Microbiology) of the General Medical Council in the United Kingdom and is authorized to practice Medical Biology in France.
Dr. Romney obtained his medical degree and training in both Canada and abroad, having studied and trained at the University of Western Ontario, the University of British Columbia, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Epidemic Intelligence Service), the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and the Institut Pasteur in Paris.
As a recognized authority in his field, Dr. Romney has led groundbreaking research initiatives and served as the Chair of the BC COVID-19 Testing Subcommittee. His wealth of experience and leadership will further enhance Danner Laboratory's commitment to innovation, precision and excellence in laboratory testing.
